- President James Madison
We sent our applications for AOS on July 2nd and the applications arrived the following morning. We had no idea about the revised bulletin until several days later! We have been on J1 visas (not subject to HRR) since August 2004 and they expire on Sep 9. We tried for H1B but the cap was met on the 1st day. We are high school math teachers and make a significant difference to the lives of the students we teach. When the July bulletin was released in June we dismissed other visa options as we believed we were able to file AOS. We filed I-485, I-765 and I-131.
My wife is actually nearly 7 months pregnant now and since this decision she has hardly slept or eaten. This is having a severe impact on her as we are faced with having to leave when she is 36 weeks pregnant. We will have no jobs, home, loss of earnings, health insurance and no doctor to care for her. In addition she already has a condition known as Hyperemesis which has already resulted in low weight gain. I am very worried about my family and our future due to an inappropriate decision. We also have an 18 month old US citizen daughter. Life for her has been and will be difficult due to this. It is also too late to think about trying to change status to another visa.
We have worked here legally for almost 3 years and paid taxes, etc. All we want is to be able to provide a life for our children and help educate the future generations. We have always followed rules and pose no threat to anyone. Please help us we are desperate.
