Immigrants' List, the pro-immigration reform Political Action Committee filed its mid-year disclosure report with the federal election commission today, with receipts totaling over $110,000. Immigrants' List's filing shows a cash on hand of over $112,000 and disbursements to candidates totaling more than $16,000.
Two leading anti-immigrant PACs, the Minuteman PAC & Americans Against Illegal Immigration PAC (AAII) raised over $550,000 & $400,000 respectively. The pair now have only $75,000 & $47,000 left in the bank.
Despite their low cash on hand totals, AAII has made no contributions to candidates & Minuteman PAC has contributed only $10,000 to a single candidate. Instead, the bulk of their combined contribution dollars, $885,336 in all, went to "Operating Expenses."
"This information sheds light on what we saw in last year's elections," said Immigrants' List Executive Director Drew Seman, "Despite their scare tactics, these anti-immigrant groups are ineffective at shaping public opinion. The American people rejected enforcement-only, anti-immigrant candidates in 2006 and polls consistently show over 65% of Americans support comprehensive immigration reform today."
"Even though we were out-raised we're more powerful & have done more for candidates than our anti-immigrant opponents," said Seman.
Immigrants' List is a bipartisan political action committee dedicated to meaningful immigration reform. Founded in October of 2006, Immigrants' List works for meaningful immigration reform in the United States, including relief to divided families, earned citizenship for undocumented workers, increased employment-based visa numbers and restoration of due process and judicial review.
