Don't Hold Us Hostage

On February 28, the Department of Homeland Security will shut down unless Congress passes a funding bill. That seems like it wouldn't be hard to do.

But anti-immigrant members are holding DHS funding hostage in exchange for provisions that would overturn President Obama's executive action.

Sign our petition to Congress to let members know: You cannot hold our safety hostage.

Dear Members of Congress:

The Department of Homeland Security was established to protect Americans' lives. As such, it should be one of your top priorities.

However, several of those in your chambers are playing games with this important department -- and with our safety. The threats to shut down DHS are appalling and are the epitome of why so few Americans trust you to do the job you were sent to Washington to do.

We, the signers of this petition, call on you to fund DHS and set aside your disagreements on immigration policy. It's too important, and too much is at stake.
